#105529 - open project: christmas lightchain |
For amusement of my family (and mine too) I made a simple "lightchain": 16 LEDs of various color connected to a shift register - I used two 74LS164s and conneced anodes of LEDs to the outputs, cathodes to GND (I know it is absolutely violating each design rule, but, hey, this IS a toy!). The shift register clock and data is controlled by 8051 (actually a P89V51RD2) and the current - ehm - "firmware" performs 3 "effects": runs a randomly "appearing" "lights" forward and backward and flashes alternating each other LED. The "effects" change after a certain time.
I know that similar lightchains can be bought in each other store for some small money; but I think this is a form of a hobby project - not particularly useful, but full of fun. Is anybody interested in contributing to it, maybe adding other "effects" or making other enhancements? I will place the current "firmware" onto my 8052.com website tonight. Jan Waclawek |
