#180608 - Diving into the AT89S52
Responding to: ???'s previous message

so, I can write 1 to IE0 or IE1
and the interrupts will happen?

I read the datasheet, below
http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resou...oc1919.pdf
there's no detailed information there.

and this, is not my homework.
I just don't have the hardware to do the test.

oh yeah, I'm definitely a noob.
I don't even know what "bible" you all mention in the post.

Not sure if you saw the embedded hyperlink in my post, so I have included Atmel's '8051-bible' web address for clariy:
http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resources/prod_documents/doc4316.pdf

Before diving into the AT89S52, I suggest you read through the following:

1.) Latest version of Atmel's own '8051-bible' (given above) which outlines in detail what one can expect from their 'baseline' 8051 core.

2.) Atmel (latest-revision) specific AT89S52 product datasheet (to which you've linked), which describes any features/enhancements not found in a 'baseline' 8051 core i.e. increased IRAM/XRAM, EEPROM storage, ADC's, PWM's etc. The other main function of the document, of course, is to provide electrical/thermal/physical characteristics and limits etc.

Now, as others have already asked: What would you like to achieve? Perhaps (most likely) there's a better way..

Regards,
Valentin Angelovski
PS: I have never used the interrupt event flags in the manner which you describe, for event indication purposes maybe, but not as a direct interrupt trigger!
