#124920 - Codewright & Eclipse
Responding to: ???'s previous message

I've heard jibberjabber about CodeWright and Eclipse before. What are they

Codewright is basically an editor (a very good one, IMO).
One of its additional features is the ability to call external programs and parse their output. Thus you can get it to compile your current file, and then be able to click an error message and go straight to the source line.
It also has a project facility - but I haven't explored it that much.
It does code browsing, syntax highlighting, language-sensitivity, code templates, column editing, regular expression search-and-replace, macros, and all that other good stuff too...

As I mentioned earlier, TASKING's "IDE" is all implemented in Codewright (so if you want a free copy of Codewright, just download the TASKING eval...)

Unfortunately, Codewright was bought by Borland - who promptly discontinued it. :-(
(maybe the new owners, if they ever materialise, might resurrect it...)

As for Eclipse, I have also heard a lot of jibberjabber about it - but I'm still none the wiser as to what it actually is, and what it might do for me. That's why I keep asking...
