Ok, that'd explain the System V reference. I have no idea if System V used OBJ as executable. I really thought The Unix/Linux OS's used something like .o as the intermedia objects.
Then again, taking a System V standard and applying it to a PC platform is something that drives me crazy, too. I had to work with MetroWerks CodeWarrior to do some Palm development. That came originally from a Mac environment and they basically just ported it as-is to Windows. The interface is very awkward from a Windows-user perspective and the directory structure was clearly taken from a Mac. Drives me crazy. If I wanted to work on a Mac, I'd buy a Mac. :) Regards, Craig Steiner |
