#110543 - OBJ context Responding to: ???'s previous message |

With "common syntax based on the UNIX system V assembler syntax" what is the meaning of .obj in "UNIX system V"
Things change I know linux is supposed to be the same, but since this is dated 10+ years ago, "UNIX system V" recollections only, please OBJ has been the intermediate file on PCs since the mid-80's. I'm not sure what UNIX System V uses, but don't they use the .o extension for the object files? I don't remember seeing OBJ's on any Linux/Unix system, really, but I may be wrong on that. In any case, does this assembler come from a System V origin? If not, what's the relevance of System V? Regards, Craig Steiner |
