Did you not read his posting? I see he has a learned a lot:

1) Pure inputs as compared to quasi bidirectional need pull ups/ down for quiescent conditions, never leave them floating.
2) Inputs are not latches, you have to read and save the data.

5) There will sometimes be an ill mannered senior member, who would rather abuse than help.
