I believe there are behavioural VHDL simulation models of the 8051 available online (maybe opencores.org). This method assumes that you're willing (and able) to write/obtain models for your other hardware and write a reasonable test bench. Don't take the above as a dismissal of the simulation approach, as I always simulate my FPGA hardware designs, even to the point of writing functional models of all attached hardware. It's time very well spent. Unfortunately, I don't have an 8051 model. -a |
