It is not difficult to understand, the problem is that reading it is work, which many members of the younger generation has no concept of. I have, praise be, met a few recent graduates that did understand the concept, but far more that did not.

that you need to take two different crystals to make your application not work?
it takes very elaborate schemes to switch crystal, every time I have seen it attempted without a "synchronization circuit" involved it has failed.
