#108083 - an issue and a comment
Responding to: ???'s previous message
If so, was it usable or just a cute 'toy'? I read the 37 comments on the forum under ToolStick. Some found NO use for it; some thought it might be useful.

Issue:
The f3xx will drive you crazy, first when you start using it and have to unlearn most of what you know about the '51, then when you pick up your next project you have to unlearn the f3xx and relearn the '51. The f3xx is not a derivative, it is a deviate, there is not even an attempt from the designers to make it follow, even simple, '51 standards beyond the instruction set.
examples
external oscillator must feed XTAL2
there is no RCAP2 and when you have designed around it missing, you find it is there, but with another name.
The watchdog must be disabled at start, just to get through statup.a51, as opposed to all other where you need to enable it. two issues: again changed "for the heck of it" and a watchdog that can be disabled is worthless, what can say that runaway code will not disable the watchdog.
also, the hardware IIC require you to make brand new code, it is cahnged "for the heck of it" as well.

working with the f3xx, experience is a hindarnce, noe an advantage
