Probably, we feel more connected to the "methusalem" than they do ! For them, it is a long, long back in the past (sure it is), and history doesn't make money !

When I recall the other things from that time (I saw on the list), such as first EPROM 1702 (256 bytes), which I made a programmer for, then first processors: 8080 is the one I used and remember very well, they all belong to the dinosaurus age ! It is unbelievable that the 8051 is of the same generation ! But the 8051 survived. I don't think (no one actually does) that it was just pure "luck". The concept, the architecture, the possibilities, all that was too strong to be easily beaten by numerous competitors ...
