Probably, we feel more connected to the "methusalem" than they do ! For them, it is a long, long back in the past (sure it is), and history doesn't make money !
When I recall the other things from that time (I saw on the list), such as first EPROM 1702 (256 bytes), which I made a programmer for, then first processors: 8080 is the one I used and remember very well, they all belong to the dinosaurus age ! It is unbelievable that the 8051 is of the same generation ! But the 8051 survived. I don't think (no one actually does) that it was just pure "luck". The concept, the architecture, the possibilities, all that was too strong to be easily beaten by numerous competitors ... Regards, Slobodan |
