According to Intel, the 8051 microcontroller was introduced in 1980 (no date given). It means, this year it celebrates it's 25th anniversary.

I thought there might still be somebody at Intel remembering the making of the 8051, who might perhaps give some interesting details on design decisions, background and the atmosphere of those days.
Could somebody with better English than mine ask at Intel?
