#105475 - That's it ! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Kai , you just mentioned the exact circuit.I cannot verify if Steve and Andy where right or not ! I don't know enough about what they entioned.
This was my Chevy's 1975 Ignition System.I detached the system for diagnostics. After that I decided to play with it (it's very enjoyable).I wonder how much powerfull it was , it was able to produce sparks a little bit over than one inch (~3cm). These are General Motors HEI (High Energy Ignition) system. They use a pickup sensor(probably a HallEffect sensor, with 6 tooth for Cyl.) to position the engine's crank. An integrated HEI module (probably a NPN transistor) then fires the Coil. I have seen some demonstrational things on some shops. Those were consisted of a flat circular plate of glass.A long arc happened from the center of this plate to the circumference, making a nice white glow. This could be easily reproduced by vero boards the way I did it. I got shocked by this Hi-Voltage times to times. If I'll be correct it should be about 5-10KV.It just hecks the hell out of me, but that's nice ;).Is it harmful to the body or nurves ?.This remembers me the times that I don't have a multimeter in hand. In such situations I use my tongue to measure the voltage !(of course not for 220v, e.g for batteries and low voltage systems.). Best Regards : Farshid |
