#102634 - I never cringe on a "fun exercise" I do, Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I'm sure that Erik will cringe when he sees the project because it's definitely not the "right processor for the job." But it's a fun exercise
I never cringe on a "fun exercise" I do, however cringe when what could be a "fun exercise" is presented as the right use of a given part. If the result of this "fun exercise" will be a lenghty discussion of "why can I not drive a 1600*1024 color monitor with the '51 PC" I will, indeed, cringe. Reading your post I see useful things, such as "I'm currently working on Ethernet connectivity which seems to be working well" and maybe a '51 PC is the right platform for developing such before inserting it in useful devices. Yes, Craig, I said "maybe the right platform". It is a fact that nothing is so bad that it is not good for something. As an example: I have no problem with someone trying to connect to the serial port on the PC without a MAX232 (equivalent) I do, however, have one major problem when it is posted as a "solution".
