I think it works as much as it ever did. It's really before my time and it was built by my father decades ago. A little surfing on the Internet leads me to believe that these units were always rather maligned for not being able to display a signal as clearly or as accurately as other scopes even of that day. I use it today mostly to see if there is a signal and to get a vague idea of its frequency--anything beyond that would seem to be pushing it beyond its useful limits. :)

An added advantage: You get the nice, warm, toasty smell of vaccuum tubes. So tell me... if one of these tubes goes out some day, I can just replace it with a lightbulb, right? :)
