#137792 - You newer know if they are bootleg Responding to: ???'s previous message |
So a question that really comes to my mind is: Is AT89C5x really discontinued ? And if they are discontinued by Atmel, then who is manufacturing these ICs ?
I am sure they are "really discontinued" You newer know if they are bootleg. I have a couple of thousand AT89C55s lying around and, if someone made an, even low, offer, I might let go of most of them. These were superseeded in a design at a time when our stock was not depleted. I guess we use about 5 per year now. HOWEVER, I would be extremely weary of a discontinued part (especially this long after the cessation date) you may get leftovers, bootlegs, or outright rejects. A discontinued part from a reputable 'partminer' will typically cost you five times more than the original price. A friend of mine is quoted $35 for 752s, I do not recall the original price, but it was, then, and 'economy chip' Erik |
