#114421 - bad example, perhaps
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I have a datasheet for that part, and have had it for some time. What caused me to use this part as an example was the broken links that I encountered between 8052.COM, KEIL, and Philips. Perhaps this was because the links had been changed and not kept current en-route, but it was frustrating to look for parts, links to which were found on this site or on KEIL's. It doesn't buy KEIL much to keep that information current, and it doesn't pay Philips to post a notice every time they change a link. It does make one wonder if there isn't a better way, though, and I was thinking it would be of considerable use to folks who use this site to have a place local to the site that contains the datasheets, particularly of "mature" parts that we'll eventually have to replace with something. Datasheets are useful to vendors only so long as they're selling those parts. I don't think it's of much benefit to Intel, for example, to have the 8048-series sheets out there. They may still have 'em but I've not seen 'em. Nevertheless, once in a while somebody shows up with a schematic that has one of 'em in it and I have to figure out what's up. It's not impossible, but it might be without a datasheet. You've got to remember how the timers and counters work, how they can be made to interact with external signals, etc. You know what I mean.

Having to wade through changes on other websites is sometimes easy, and sometimes it results in consumption of considerable quantity of spirituous beverages, antacids, and laxatives. Usually it takes the longest when I'm in the biggest hurry.

The ALLDATASHEET is often as good as you could want, but sometimes it's pretty difficult. I've had it return the wrong sheet, I've had it return a script. It's no worse than any other site, but, it would be handy if those things were HERE on 8052.com, so we could, at least, depend on finding 8052 data, etc. right here, even long after the parts are obsolete.
