that is a precision of 0.1% that is shooting for the moon. You can easily get sub fractions of an RPM ACCURACY, but what RESOLUTION is meaningful, like Erik says, filtering is very important, 10RPM resolution should be fine for anythng but idling - but when idling and adjusting timing extra resolution would be nice to have. At 500 RPM 10 RPM is 2% of your reading. At 10,000 RPM its 0.1%. Steve |
