for J1708 see fig 15 of http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX...X3444E.pdf That circuit is NOT correct. I hardly looked at the circuit, took Maxims word for it. Something made me have another look and I realized that (someone at) Maxim do not know the J1708 standard. The circuit shown will not work on a J1708 bus. According to the standards document (SAE J1708) for J1708 you tie TX (transmit input called TX, D or whatever on the chip) to ground and drive the tx enable (DE or whatever on the chip) with the serial bitstream inverted. As far as resistors and capacitors fig 15 is correct. Do note that this mutilation of RS485 only allow 9600 bps. Erik |
