You didn't read the datasheet on how these MAX485's work did you? Such is learning the hard way. Firstly, RS485 (using one pair) is half duplex - only one unit can talk at a time - is this what you software expects? I normally would tie the DE and RE signals together and connect them to a port pin. Your software has to control this port pin -setting it high to transmit, low to receive. |
