Thanks to all of you for taking out your valuable time to pinpoint my mistakes. I do agree with your point of view.

I was never expecting any magic from anyone of you.

In a way, I did the right thing in posting the code on the forum, else i would have never understood that my coding technique in terms of the commenting needs improvement.

No, my uC 89V51RD2 works on 5V. Expect SO(Serial Output) of DataFlash, rest all pins are 5V tolerant. In order to interface SO(Serial Output) to MISO(Master In Slave Out) of the uC, I am using a latch 74HCT373.
