No its A/C Servo. Imagine ramping down in 10ms a distance of about 64000 pulses ( one pulse distance = ball screw pitch / encoder ppr).
Direct digital synthesis involves writing of 24 bit no. to generate the required freq. clock. PLL based clock generators take about 3ms to stabilise on new set freq.
