I don't know where you're getting your information, but I found several vendors that make crystals that operate _well_ above 85C.
Here's the one I'm looking at:

One of the options is for -55C to 125C! Now you're not going to be able to get 30ppm parts in this range, but I don't need it.

The reason these are becoming more common is TPM: Tire Pressure Monitoring. Tires get pretty hot, and pretty cold!
