#106521 - Possible Solution Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Okay first of all I don't have much background in Electronics/uControllers but I have connected a similar lcd to a basic stamp using a breadboard (so it should work).
My lcd came from a piece of equipment at work, it's a 40x2 optrex dmc series. The lcd has a 6x2 male connector with two pads on the other end of the unit for backlighting, this unit had a 5in female to female cable attached to it 7x2 on one end and 6x2 on the other end with the extra two wires running down to the backlight pads. When I connected this lcd I ended up just putting breadboard jumpers from the female 7x2 connector to the breadboard, this ofcourse is not a good solution (but it works for me, got a baby to feed so a throw away lcd isn't going to get any money). A better idea whould be to to use a female 7x2 connector with a ribbon cable and solder the wires into a 7x2 dip socket (WARNING: double/triple check your wires before ever using a cable like that, you can easily damage an lcd module). That although not an idea solution would make it to where you don't need to solder/modify the lcd module in anyway. Anyway that's my idea about it. Sorry to the professionals that are going to yell at me for even bringing up this solution. Sorry for gramatical / spelling mistakes too. |
