#102211 - on modems, compression and handshake Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Andy Neil said:
The compression must be enabled via the appropriate AT command; In fact, 56k modems (and 33k modems and most of the slower modems) have the compression enabled by default from factory. You have to use an AT command to switch it off. Anyway, in practice it is almost always necessary to implement some form of handshake at least for throttling the data flow in the mcu-to-modem direction - modems can anytime decide to do retraining or switch to lower modem-to-modem rate. So it's then not unreasonable to imlement the handshake in both directions, in which case it does not matter what is the actual baudrate in any of the connections. Jan Waclawek |
