It is impossible for a dial-up modem link to exceed 56k! In fact, even a so-called "56k" modem can never actually reach 56k in real life - the 56k is just a theoretical maximum limit! Furthermore, the "56k" only ever works for downloads from a special 56k server - uploads, and modem-to-modem links cannot exceed 36k or so. http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=86842 So there's no real reason to exceed 57k6 - Unless your modem is doing data compression & decompression internally. |
