#111781 - Value of Education Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Erik Malund said:
On another line, I never got any formal education in programming, I learned all that in "the scool of hard knocks" (OK, I took an extension course in C long ago) so, were I to apply for a job where programming was involved, my formal education would be worth nothing. I never said experience is not valuable. I never said only education matters. We learn important things in school/college and we learn different important things through experience. Education tells me about basic mental capability. Experience tells me how that capability has been applied. For me it is important a candidate has the right level of capability and they have applied it well. Ian |
