1. the native mode of CF is memory-mapped mode, although they all "speak" also IDE/ATA 2. only a handful of registers is mapped (don't be confused by specs, most of the signals denoted as Axx are simply ignored), so you need to read the whole 512-byte sector sequentially, with address internally incremented after each read (=> no random memory-like access => no use as program memory).
