This is precisely what I was going to ask about - adding a trimmer capacitor to the crystal. But which pin of the processor should it be connected to - pin 18 (XTAL2) or pin 19 (XTAL1)?

I've previously tried this trick with a transistor oscillator, and with the circuit I was using the trimmer needed to be on a particular side of the crystal.
