I think we should understand the rule of thumb. One way or other Z80 (and updated Z80 architectures) could also do the same job as 8051/8052 can do. This is upto the user which one to choose. A user (developer) wil always choose the item (in most cases) which he finds easy for him. and more support is available for. I think today 8051/52 is just like an standard such as IBM compatible in PCs, more software and enormous variants, free downloads and much more, is the power driving the 8051/52 architecture towards acceptance.

With the car example, all cars can be used if we need a transport, we can use any of the car. But when the question comes to choose from which one would you buy?? Obviously, you choose the car, which has better features and the most important is the support!
