Communicating via I2C with any device using microcontroller is no big deal.

You simply make SCL and/or SDA high or low strictly according to the I2C protocol of the device you have to communicate with.

Kindly send the device specs. and its protocol. I will try to make you a routine in assembly only. Addition of LEDs and other stuff you can do your own.
