I agree. I started writing a FAT12 file system manager in assembly language a couple years ago for fun . It was working just fine at reading directories and opening files stored on an attached SD card. But what a mess in assembly language.

I've been too busy to work on it lately but at some point I plan to finish that up. But I'll be doing it in 'C'.

Does anyone know what the status of FAT is anymore? Is Microsoft still trying to collect royalties on that?
