#140723 - BGMicro.com sells DTMF ic's cheap
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hello Frode Aarebrot,

Getting DTMF tone decoder and encoder IC's is hard.

I wanted to use the MT8888 DTMF IC but I could only get it in 35
quanity at $8.50 each.

After much effort I found BGMicro offers the best deal.

Getting a DTMF generator was difficult but the answer was right
under my nose. The ICS5089 DTMF KYBD ENCODER is easy to interface
to a 80C51 MPU although it takes nine pin's. See the below
diagram for information.

I also tried to generate the DTMF tones
using the C software on 8052.com site but I couldn't get it to
work. It would generate the tones but they were unusable. Rather
than waste a lot of time I just decided to do it using external
hardware.

All of my searching on the internet I only found two places that had 80C51 software to do it.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Charles Bannister

ICS5089 can be interfaced to MCU. Read data sheet for details. Pretty easy.
