Stuart - A SSR (solid state relay) is just a packaged TRIAC or SCR with the drive circuit - so the same issues remain. Mind you, we're talking 40A at 240VAC for 10kW, so one would need to have at least a 60A rated device for a bit of headroom. For 2.5kW circuits, I use 40A rated SCRs for robustness. |
