IGBT or TRIAC?
The basic difference is that (when lights are involved) the only control you can have with a triac is "cutting the wave" which at 10kW wikk generate EMI enough to blow a small transmitter off the air. 10kW lighting sounds like stage use and, today most performers use wireless mikes and I would say to not interfere with those using TRIACS would be quite a task, you will need to "round" the output and that, in turn may give you problems turning them off.

Now, with IGBTs you get into "switching power supply methods" and you will use much higher frequencide which are easier to filter. The disadvantage using IGBTs is that you get a much more complex/expensive design (the lamps will be supplied with DC).

The choice between the two will depend on one thing only "how much EMI can be tolerated in the enviraonment where the units are to be used"
