#106913 - 8051 and brightness
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Well if you read my post you'd see that I am using an 8051, so there is intelligence. I want to avoid using 3 additional IC's if possible due to the board space it would require and I don't want to spend too much time running the mux in software. If I can't find the cure-all IC then I will be forced to add more chips/software.

On the multiplexing/brightness issue, one of my 6954s is driving eight 16-segment displays, full capacity, and they are *very* bright. As compared to directly powering the segments I see only a small drop in brightness. It's very useable in any case. I should take a couple pix to illustrate.
