#106860 - Yep. That's really what I want to do
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi Ian,

Yes, that is really what I want to do. It's just a protocol that I am using during development (sort of modeled after the autobaud routine in the Atmel chips). Understand that it's the hardware that I'm working on, not the program. I am actually communicating with the ยต-controller via a keyboard and CRT. The next byte gets sent when I type it in, and all of the echoed characters are strictly for my benefit at this point. None of this is what the finished system will look like. In the finished system there would be no need for the '.' or 'x' to be echoed, though I will still implement some kind of handshaking.

In this particular case, all the really elegant stuff happens in hardware when TE gets set. That's the impressive part, but I won't share that with you.
