None of this has anything to do with the 8051; it is all entirely down to the PC software!
The PC neither knows nor cares whether it's connected to an 8051, a dumb terminal, another PC, or anything else. All the PC knows is that it receives characters into its COM port, and sends characters out of its COM port - what happens beyond the COM port is entirely irrelevant to the PC. The same is true of the 8051: it neither knows nor cares whether it's connected to another 8051, a dumb terminal, a PC, or anything else. All the 8051 knows is that it receives characters into its UART, and sends characters out of its UART - what happens beyond the UART is entirely irrelevant to the PC. |
