#175249 - joule thief |
Looks interesting but the posters on the associated talk page seem curious as to whether it is correct or actually used much.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Open_hardware => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joule_thief "Joule thief" is a nickname for a simple switched-mode power supply that is easy to build and can use nearly all of the energy in a battery, even far beyond the point where other circuits consider the battery "dead". The circuit uses a variant of the blocking oscillator as an unregulated boost mode switching power supply. The voltage increase with a joule thief works similar to how a nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery retains its voltage for a good bit of its run.[dubious – discuss][citation needed] ... ... => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Joule_thief |
