At just 4 timers per package I think I may very well be better off to just use the old and trusty 82C54 from Intersil. I have not a care in the world of the timers are on any sort of MCU architecture, 8051 or not. As I posted earlier to this thread I currently looking at an CPLD implementation but my preference really really would be a silicon chip that is dedicated to being just an 8 to 10 channel 16-bit timer chip. Even better would be if the programmable interface to the part was I2C. Michael Karas |
