Open it up and have a look... In today's PC, UART is built into a chip called superIO, usually a TQFP100 or similar package. Sometimes it is built into the chipset. Look for the fat chips.
But that will help little. I just wanted to know if you've not used a USB-UART - I can imagine troubles there, it's much more complicated and more software involver (read: more likely to be bugged) than the conventional UART. Can you try the same on a different PC, or the setup I mentioned above? JW PS what are exactly the symptoms? |
