They have been tagged with a sales tax increase for a project that was supposed to pay for itself with those bonds. I know one fellow who won't use that highway just because of that. Now, I know his "protest" won't be heard, but he feels it, and that's what matters to him. I personally have never used E470.
I think it's inapprpriate for a county or local government to apply taxes it specifically promised not to apply to a specific project. Sometimes it is necessary, though. RE |
