Dear Mr. Andy Neil An external application need 16 bit at once with a high speed. A 16 bit data actually needed to be sent. Since data in 8 bit, why not sending 16 bit address. The 8 bit data, as Oleg Sergeev mentioned, may doesn't care. Just let it always 0x00 or what ever. I found a little difficult to explain the purpose in English.
