I appreciate the commentsinfo. Our company happens to own a Altium DXP Livedesign license (protel + some FPGA developement software built-in). They are currently selling a Xilinx Spartan 3 development kit for something like $99 and I think it will be as good as any for playing around with plus I'll be able to evaluate Altiums FPGA development tools.
I'll keep the 3.3/5v experience in mind and I'll deffinatly download the aforementioned tools to start getting a handle of the design process. Couple specific questions... 1) What is the typical price range of a FPGA in production quantity? Talking about under $10? $10-20? $50+? 2) Aren't there some 8051 manufacturers that have some FPGA built-in? Worth looking into? What companiesdevices have you had a pleasant development experience with? Thanks, Tomas |
