I don't see how that could be the reason in this case, if bit 1 is given a function in future then using the method of incrementing AUXR1 to switch between DPTR0 and DPTR1 would then have a side effect. I suppose you could have yet another bit to select 'legacy compatibility mode', or something, but then it's all getting a bit ridiculous. It seems a reasonable question to me, if somewhat pointless. |
