Depends what you want to do - I assume you are driving a thing that is just tracking the sun. Do you need ANY digital input at all ? Yes,your assumption totally is right and if i use opamp becuase of it's analogue output I have to notify uController from existed situation Green LEDS by the way apparently make excellent light sensors for solar applications.
