Yes you can use your LPT with no additional hardware, but some precautions should be taken then. It's better to use open collector drivers instead to decouple the power supply from the PC, otherwise there is a risk to damage your AT89C8252. I think that I have seen such project somewhere on the internet. I have also made my own with using tristate bus drivers 74HC125 for decoupling SPI bus from PC LPT port. But I developed the driver only for AVR controllers.
