Albert,

it be still true, that EEPROM was easier
to store data, than flash.
I use flash (AT29C256) in one application also to store data,
but its page size was small (only 128 bytes).
And so it needs temporary 128 bytes of RAM to hold
the data, also, if only 1 byte must be altered.
