Can you kindly send me the schematic.

I have though tried it and it works fine.

Collector to +40 volts, emmiter to output with pull down resistor to give a low when transistor is off.

The base is the input.

However, if input is given a high from the collector level then it gives full out put. But if the input at base is given from 5 volts regulator then output also is only 5 volts (not full as 40 volts) Why ??
