#161162 - The datasheet for YOUR MCU - or not?

The datasheet for YOUR MCU is where you should get your information.

Actually, this is part of the standard 8051 architecture - common to all MCUs using the 8051 architecture.
Therefore it might not be specifically documented in the particular MCU datasheet - it might just be assumed that you are familiar with the so-called "bible" for the 8051:

Chapter 1 - 80C51 Family Architecture:

Chapter 2 - 80C51 Family Programmer's Guide and Instruction Set:
http://www.nxp.com/acrobat_d...UIDE_1.pdf

Chapter 3 - 80C51 Family Hardware Description:
http://www.nxp.com/acrobat_d...WARE_1.pdf

The Tutorials on this site will also give you more information about the standard 8051 architecture:

But, of course, you do need to carefully study the Datasheet for your particular chip for digressions from and/or enhancements to the standard...
