#161146 - Read the datasheet and look for Mode 0
Responding to: ???'s previous message
"Mode 0" in the serial port is essentially a shift register. It operates only in one direction, and is really difficult to use "isochronously" or what would be synchronously, but for the poor design of the "uart". No start or stop bits are attached, nor is parity provided.

When operated in Mode 0, the 805x serial port generates a shift clock on P3.1 while sending or receiving data on P3.0. both transmitter and receiver have to use this clock in order to remain synchronized. The data rate is always 1/2 the oscillator frequency in "standard" 805x MCU's. The shift clock is generated until the data has been successfully shifted out.

The datasheet for YOUR MCU is where you should get your information.
